I believe there are no safe paths in life, so you might as well choose the adventurous one and you might discover that some of the greatest moments will live inside of an adventure.
One’s everyday life is full of due dates and deadlines, rush hours and waiting lines that will take you nowhere but to the next day. We all have our responsibilities but it doesn’t mean you should let that define who you are. Adventure doesn’t mean fun ONLY. It’s also the unexpected, unknown, strange and exciting. Something that lies around small decisions, and above all love for one’s self. Regular exercise could be more of a routine than an adventure but it will improve your life and give you that boost of energy to realize that there are no limits to your imagination. You realize the gap between what you want to do, and what you can do is way smaller than you previously thought.
If there is something you are scared of, that’s a good place to start. Afraid of heights? How about some bungee jumping to break the ice? Sometimes all we need is a friend’s hand to give us that little push over the ledge. That brings me to a crucial point of the adventure of life: connecting with other people.
We all get stuck in muddy days once in a while and need some time off from the world. But there are few medicines to the soul as this one we call friends. Being around people you love and that make you feel good is usually the best way to get to know the world and yourself. All the planning and theories you have are only worthy when put into action. The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to experience it to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences. Every best friend you have was once a stranger. What an example of how important it is to be open to new possibilities!
I read somewhere the other day that the advance of humankind has not happened because of sober, responsible and cautious people, but because of the playful, rebellious and immature ones. They are the ones that dare to dream and step outside of their comfort zone every now and then. They are the ones curious about what hides around the next corner, the next hill. The ones that are willing to explore what is hidden behind that big millenary wall of stones or past the clouds that came from who knows where and are going where I haven’t been yet. So let’s gather the friends and go somewhere provocative. The world is a playground and there are many new places and feelings ready to be explored.
I know I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list. And it starts now.
